Itanium Server Processor
After a 2 year delay Intel have finally released their Itanium server processor.
The processing chip is said to have 2 billion transistors so it will give twice the speed as Intel's previous Itanium server processing chip.
The Intel Itanium 9300 features the new QPI architecture, as well as support for DDR3 RAM. This was in fact the reason for the delay, initially Intel were releasing the chip aimed at DDR2 RAM where as the change over 2 years ago meant the chip had been revamped towards DDR3 RAM.
